Bio

Martin Dietrich, MD, PhD, is board certified in internal medicine and medical oncology with fellowship training in hematology and oncology. At the Cancer Institute of Florida, he sees patients of all types of malignancies with a focus on breast cancer research, treatment and prevention. He became a medical oncologist because he was fascinated by the progress that has been made in understanding cancer, genetics and molecular biology, which has led to life-saving treatments for many and the hope of a cure for all. His clinical and research interests include immunotherapy and targeted therapy, the development of new agents in clinical trials, biomarker development and genetic research. He especially enjoys the ability to work with his patients and their families throughout their health journey, considering their trust a privilege and finding inspiration in their strength and the care they extend to one another.

Dr. Dietrich is a leading clinician and researcher who is especially proud of his numerous scientific publications that have contributed “snippets” to the puzzle of clinical and scientific problems. He has had the opportunity to conduct groundbreaking medical oncology research with multiple, prestigious organizations including the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Dietrich has been awarded multiple research grants and scholarships throughout his career. In addition to his medical degree, he holds a PhD in molecular genetics and a Dr. med. (a German advanced degree in medical research) with high honors.

A marathon runner and prodigious traveler, Dr. Dietrich enjoys spending time with his Labrador retrievers and supports animal rescue efforts as well as the American Cancer Society and American Academy for Cancer Research. He is fluent in English and German with professional proficiency in Spanish.
